《建议联合国设立“国际慈善日”》
尊敬的联合国秘书长先生：
您好！
我们是来自中华人民共和国江苏省徐州市心缘志愿者服务中心的志愿者。徐州市心缘志愿者服务中心是在中国政府部门正式注册登记的一家民间公益慈善机构，成立于1997年4月，创建人是一位身有严重“强直性脊椎炎”的残疾青年郑复生先生。徐州市心缘志愿者服务中心成立十年来一直坚持开展志愿者助残济困、义务服务弱势群体的慈善工作，受到当地人民的热烈欢迎和称赞并受到政府的多次表彰。
在长年的奉献过程中我们深切的体会到，虽然这个世界是美好的但却是不完美的，在我们的周围仍有许多人正承受着不公平的待遇，他们没有稳定的经济来源；没有属于自己的住房；缺乏必要的食品和衣物；有的失去了健康的体魄，忍受无法想象的病痛的折磨；有的生活在炮火、暴力之下，艰难地挣扎在生死的边缘；有的……太多太多的不幸与灾难时刻威胁着人类，摧残着我们脆弱的灵魂，只有真诚的爱和直接的援助行动，才能给他们带来关怀和温暖，医治他们心灵的创痛。
如今在世界各地正有无数的人献身于慈善事业，他们有的活跃于贫瘠、战争、疾病肆虐的非洲大陆；有的在社区做义工为身边需要帮助的弱势群体做力所能及的工作；有的则出现在各种灾难的现场，所有这一切都源自人类善良的心灵，这是大自然赋予人类无法抗拒的与生俱来的爱。善良的人们在奉献中得到安慰和快乐，更使被帮助者感受到幸福和温暖。人类也从爱与被爱当中感悟宇宙的法则及亘古不变的真理，在爱中干戈化成玉帛、仇恨转为互助、自私变成博爱，这是上帝创造这个世界的本意和初衷，谁违背谁就要背负永久的痛苦和烦恼。
我们的世界在剧烈的变革与震荡中前行，由此而造成的无数矛盾衍生出层出不穷的人间悲剧，千千万万苦难中的人们期盼着爱与关怀。我们时时刻刻仿佛都能听到他们的悲凉的呼喊，看到他们苦苦挣扎的身影。世界需要爱,需要更多的爱。但我们每个人自身的爱太有限，善良的人民需要团结起来将爱汇合。中国有古语云：“积沙成塔，集腋成裘”、“汇涓涓细流以成江河”。正是说明了只有将爱凝聚起来才能形成无比强大、无坚不摧的力量。基于这一切包括中国在内的世界各地的人民都不约而同地选定某一天作为“慈善日”号召当地的人民在这一天为这个社会献一份爱心，虽然类似的活动对唤醒人们心中的爱起到了一定的作用，但毕竟由于地域的限制声势分散、微弱，远远达不到足以震撼世界的影响力。
为此我们建议充分发挥联合国的作用，由联合国牵头在“五一国际劳动节”与“六一国际儿童节”之间选定某一个日子设立为“国际慈善日”（ 建议将“心缘慈爱广场”启动的5月14日作为“国际慈善日”）在这一天动员全世界的人民都一起行动，去帮助身边需要帮助的人或给正忍饥挨饿的人送去食物；或去护理重病的患者；或去探望孤独的老人；或去照顾失去亲人的孩子，或为灾民捐款。不同的方式表达出同样的心愿就是愿生活在这个世界上的每一个人都能得到关怀和温暖、愿这个世界变得更美好！
尊敬的秘书长先生，如果设立“国际慈善日”的梦想真的能够实现，那么我们将在那神圣的一天亲眼目睹怎样一幅令人无比感动的画面呢？残酷的战争因此而停止；所有的罪恶也因太阳的升起而化为乌有；人们的脸上都洋溢着友好的微笑；人与人之间主动地相互祝福；受到帮助的穷人看到了希望；得到护理的病人不再恐惧；危难中的人们重新树立了勇气和信心，整个地球村散发出可以照亮宇宙的慈善的光辉，亿万人都同时在心中虔诚祈祷，祈愿和平与幸福降临，祈愿人类的爱心永恒。
我们再也无法想象这该是何等完美圣洁的一幅画面，又该是何等伟大的爱的力量，它足以令全世界的人的灵魂都得到欣慰和净化并延续到永久。写到这里我们已经抑制不住激动得热血沸腾、热泪盈眶了，慈爱的激情在胸中澎湃，我们真诚地期望这一天早日到来！

Honored United Nations Secretary General gentleman:
We are volunteers from Xuzhou Love Volunteer Service Center, Jiangsu Province, PRC. Xuzhou Love Volunteer Service Center is a civilian charity registered in the government, PRC. It was a young seriously handicapped founded it in April, 1997. The Center keeps on doing benevolent work such as help the disabled, relieve the poor, serve the weak voluntarily and so on, which have won several great honors.
For many years' dedication we deeply realize that the world is beautiful but not perfect. Too many people are still treated unfairly; they live in the world without any steady-doing economic source or did any house belong to them. They lack essential food and clothes and some of them have lost health, bearing the torture of illness and some are struggling with war and violence. So many disasters are threatening the human, destroying the weak soul. Only the true love and direct aid can bring them warmth and cure the injured hearts.
Nowadays, millions of people around the world are dedicating themselves to the charity. Some of them are working in Africa where is poor and filled with wars and illness and some of them are volunteers working in the community for the weak. All these come from man's kind heart, and they are the inherent love endowed by the God. The dedication makes the kind people receive comfort and happiness and gets the embracer feel happiness and warmth. From the love and the be-loved the human realizes the law of nature and the everlasting truths. It is the God's original intention that love changes the hatred to interdependence, turns war to peace and alerts selfishness to caritas. Anyone who violates them will suffer from everlasting pain and annoyance.
The world is going forward with great changes and turbulence, which cause thousands of conflicts and endless tragedies. In the world millions of people are eager of love and solicitude. It seems that we can hear them crying and see them struggling. The world needs more and more love. For single love is too limited, the kind people have to unite the love, as the old Chinese saying “many a little makes a mickle”. The people all around the world have picked up some day as the “Charity Day” to call people to devote love to the society. Such activities have some effect on arousing love, but because of the restriction of space, the power is so weak and sporadic that the force doesn't reach the entire world.
So we suggest making full use of the power of the UN. The UN chooses some day between May Day and Children's Day as Charity Day (we propose May 14 on which the Love Square started up as Charity Day). On that day, we mobilize all the people in the world work together to help the weak people or send food to the hungry people, or nurse the seriously ill people or visit the lonely old people or look after the children without any relatives or donate to the victims. Different means express the same wish that is, bless everyone in the world can get warmth and solicitude. May the world become more beautiful!
Honorific Mr. Annam, what moving pictures can we see on the holy day if the plan of setting Charity Day comes true? Brutal wars will stop; all evils will disappear because of the rising of the sun. The people's faces are full of friendly smile. People greet each other voluntarily. The poor receiving help see the hope. And the cared patients aren't afraid. The people in jeopardy reset up courage and confidence. The globe village is filled with the bright charitable light and millions of people pray devoutly to may peace and happiness and wish the love lasts forever.
We can imagine what a perfect picture and what great power of love, which purifies people's soul. Till now we are so excited that tear is full of eyes and the ardor of love is surging in our hearts. We sincerely hope that the day will come early.
